ERIK VAREKAMP, MICK PEET
The Kennedy Files is a highly original non-fiction graphic novel series based purely on facts. It is an account of the origins of the Kennedy legacy, exuding history, drama, wit and entertainment.
In #2 War Comes to Europe we join Joseph P. Kennedy’s sons, Joe Jr. and Jack (whom we know as JFK) on their travels through fascist Europe, where Jack finds himself in a tight spot with Hitler’s SA. When WWII breaks out, Churchill takes over the lead from Chamberlain. Ambassador Kennedy has no friends left in London and is called back to Washington in 1940, his political career is in shambles. It’s up to his son to make up for this shame.
In #3 An Accidental Hero, America is drawn into the conflict by Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor. Joe Jr. is training to be a fighter pilot. His brother Jack falls in love with Inga Arvad, who turns out to be a German spy. When Jack is deployed to the Pacific, his motor torpedo boat is run down by a Japanese war ship. Jack manages to save his crew and himself, becoming an accidental hero. Right before the end of the war, Joe Jr. volunteers for a secret mission – which costs him his life. Now it’s up to Jack to fulfill his father’s ambition: to become President of the United States.
